Located in Wexford, Pennsylvania, Soergels Orchards partnered with Crop Meal to evaluate AgriMatrix® in commercial sweet corn production under challenging drought conditions. The trial focused on assessing soil performance, root development, crop resilience, and harvest efficiency in acidic soils where growers face increasing pressure from rising input costs and water limitations.

Enhanced Drought Resilience
Growers are increasingly challenged by acidic soils, prolonged drought periods, and rising production costs. Soergels Orchards sought a solution capable of improving soil conditions, supporting crop resilience, and delivering measurable economic returns under environmental stress.
Field trials were conducted across multiple sweet corn plots at Soergels Orchards during the 2025 growing season. AgriMatrix® was applied at a uniform rate of 120 kg per acre and evaluated against untreated control areas. Researchers monitored soil pH, root development, plant vigor, cob weight, yield performance, and harvest efficiency throughout the season.
AgriMatrix® delivered significant improvements across both agronomic and economic performance indicators. Treated plots achieved a 118% increase in yield compared to the control while producing heavier cobs and faster harvest efficiency. Soil pH improved from highly acidic levels to a more productive range, contributing to stronger root systems, improved nutrient availability, and greater drought tolerance. Even under low-moisture conditions, treated plants maintained healthier foliage, stronger plant structure, and more consistent productivity throughout the season.
